Graduate Chemist (Dipl.-Chem.) | Patent Attorney | European Patent, Trade Mark and Design Attorney | Representative before the UPC

I have been working in intellectual property law since 2001. I began by conducting prior art searches for patent applications and identifying opposition materials.

In order to be able to work beyond the searches, I was admitted as a European Patent Attorney before the European Patent Office (EPO) in 2009 and as a patent attorney in 2013. These qualifications allow me to represent clients before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), the Federal Patent Court of Germany (BPatG), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). Since the creation of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) of the EU, I have been authorised to act as a representative there.
Although I work in many exciting areas, I continue to enjoy conducting searches for our clients and use the publicly accessible databases of the patent offices and patent organisations as well as databases from STN®, PubMed®, or MEDLINE®.

My areas of expertise include chemistry, pharmaceutical products and processes, food technology, chemical engineering, biotechnology, and environmental technology.

I am particularly interested in supporting start-ups. Founders face major challenges, especially in the initial phase.

I have undergone further training in mediation and mediative communication, which are becoming increasingly important in resolving intellectual property conflicts. For example between joint applicants and inventors and in the area of employee inventions.

The aim of mediation is for the parties to find a “win-win” solution that resolves the conflict. Mediative communication can also facilitate conflict resolution.

Property right search
Patent Attorneys Berlin - Property right search
You should avoid using internet platforms or search engines to search because your data could be accessed by other users. This could then lead to a loss of your intellectual property. Search should therefore be carried out only via protected programs or platforms.

We conduct searches to assess and initiate opposition, infringement, or nullity proceedings and regularly monitor patents, utility models, trade marks, and designs to protect your intellectual property from unnoticed infringement.

Our services include:

  • Conducting patent searches via the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), the European Patent Office (EPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
  • Conducting trade mark and design searches via the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

Dipl. Biochemist / Toxicologist (DGPT) / European Registered Toxicologist / Patent Engineer

After completing my studies in biochemistry with a focus on toxicology and analytical chemistry, I earned my PhD at the University of Tübingen, where I also completed my habilitation in toxicology.

I have been working in the public sector in the field of risk assessment and approval of food, feed and chemicals since 2014. In addition, I gained expert knowledge in the development of cell-based test systems and bioanalytical methods, as well as on elucidating toxicological mechanisms of action. Since 2020, I am an adjunct professor of toxicology at the Charité in Berlin, and since 2024 a member of the GMO Panel of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). To build a solid foundation for my interest in intellectual property rights, I expanded my professional expertise in 2025/2026 by completing a distance learning program in intellectual property law.

Thanks to my many years of experience in research, teaching and assessment, I have extensive experience in the fields of toxicology, pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology , biotechnology, and analytical chemistry.
